I originally designed this page as a tribute to my father who on December 18, 2002 received the The New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal for his service to our country during the Korean War. The award was presented to him by Brig. General William Marshall, Deputy Commander, State Area Command. It is the state's top military award. He had also received two Purple Hearts and The Bronze Star. On January 11, 2003,I re-wrote this page as a tribute to his life. My father, Walter J. Johnson, died suddenly on January 7, 2003 with his faithful companion, Wesley, at his side. He was 70.

Dad was the founder of the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark New Jersey and conducted business there for 31 years touching countless lives and families. He was father to myself, my sister Dianne, and my brother Matthew, and grandfather to seven-Adrienne, Brian, Melissa, Nicolas, Gabriel, Brittany, and Michael. He was married to my step-mother Susan. He was step-father to Matt, Dan, and Tracy. Just 5 months before his death Dad & Sue purchased a home in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, the home he always wanted on the water and had wonderful plans for the summer. Gratefully, I had spent a long weekend with him only two weeks before his death.

At his funeral service his dear friend and minister Dr.Tim Pretz concluded with these words:
"Well done, faithful servant."
