Creating a Bow and Ribbon Using Sinedots II
This tutorial was created using PSP 7 and assumes you have a working knowledge of layers.
For this tutorial you will need Sinedots II which you can download here (click on PhotoShop) and my ivy_bow.cgf file which you can download here. Create a sinedots .cgf folder in your filters folder and unzip it there.
1. Open a transparent image 200x200. launch Dragonfly->Sinedots II and open ivy_bow. From the drop down menu select ivy_bow. Click Ok.
2. Open a new transparent image 500x500.
3. Copy your first image and paste onto your new image. Duplicate the layer and mirror. Move the layers so they are side by
side as shown below. Merge visible.
4. Duplicate your merged layer and rotate by 35 degrees left. Duplicate that layer and mirror. Line up your layers to get a nice bow effect
as shown below.
5. Open a new transparent image 150x200. launch Dragonfly->Sinedots II and open ivy_bow. From the drop down menu select ivy_ribbon. Click Ok.
Copy and paste onto your bow. Go to Layers ->Arrange and send the layer to the bottom. Duplicate the ribbon layer and move it down a bit
to make the ribbon longer. Merge visible. You're done!
As an alternative, complete up to step 4. Duplicate your layer and rotate it by 35 degrees left. Resize your layer by
85% making sure that Resize all Layers is unchecked. Duplicate and Mirror. With your mover tool you can play with your layers to get the effect you want.Merge visible.
The bow above I made using a blue color. You can also add a gradient fill for a different effect. To do this copy the bow you created and copy it to a 500x500 transparent background as a new selection. While still selected add a new raster layer, fill it with the gradient of your choice, Go to Layers ->Properties, and change to the blend mode to Color. Deselect and merge visible.
